electroplating engineering consultants SEC UKElectroplating Engineering Consultants

SEC has registered electroplating consultants with many years of practical industrial experience in electroplating. This encompasses electroplating of both base and precious metals, often from various types of plating solutions.

SEC can therefore cater for:

  • Cadmium Electroplating
  • Chromium Electroplating (Chrome)
  • Copper Electroplating
  • Electroplating of Copper alloys, Lead, Nickel, Tin and Tin alloys, electroplating Zinc and Zinc alloys for the base metals.
  • Electroplating of precious metals include electroplating Gold, Indium, Iridium, Platinum, Rhodium and Silver electroplating.

We can start with the design of a plant, organise the budget and final quotations, keep a progress report on the manufacture and installation and then commission the final product. Where necessary we can also consider waste minimisation, water consumption, recycling of water and materials and effluent treatment. In some cases methods of jigging, masking, shielding and anode displacement can be critical to achieving good distribution.

Where required we can and do run training courses for operators and supervisory personnel. Our objective is to create an all round efficient electroplating process, to reduce costs and keep rejects and re-works to a minimum. In short we assist your company to “Get it right the first time” and therefore improve the company profitability.

We consider the whole line, not just the electroplating process and every stage (including the rinsing) has an important function to play. Hence we will look at degreasing, de-rusting, soak cleaning, electrolytic cleaning, pickling and etching, chemical polishing, striking, plating and any post treatment processes for drying, de-embrittling or adhesion promotion.

The processes chosen will vary according to the nature of the substrate, which could be mild steel, stainless steel, copper and copper alloys, aluminum, titanium and zinc. The items may be cast, rolled, extruded or machined.
